National Day of Silence is coming!
Good morning, everyone! I just wanted to remind everyone that the National Day of Silence is coming up in 2 weeks. April 13th will mark the 9th year of this silent protest by Middle School, High School and College students across the nation.
The ’silence’ by students represents and recognizes the harassment and discrimination experienced by LGBT students and supporters. In effect, it represents the ’silencing’ LGBT students must go through to protect themselves. You know… “Don’t ask. Don’t tell.”
Please keep this day in your thoughts and show your support for the thousands of students who are putting themselves “OUT” there to bring this discrimination to light. We’re all just people trying to get through life the best way we know how.
I’ll be wearing a red ribbon pin that day, to show my support. Let me know other ways that you, or someone else you know, is planning to show their support. Place your comments below.
I’ll put up another reminder when the day is closer.
Peace out!
Julie
