Rafter extensions DONE!!
Even though I don’t have new photos (we really DO need to get a digital camera!), I had to make a new entry into the ‘Remodel’ page. Through a lot of hard work, and much frustration, this weekend, Judy and I finished cutting and installing the rafter extensions.
Just what the heck does that mean? Lots!
It means we can put in the final layer of insulation (the rolls) and the layer of plastic. It means we’re THAT MUCH closer to our master bedroom!!
At this stage, we’ll now add more definition to the attic bedroom. We’ll add the insulation batting into the rafters behind the kneewalls. Cover them with plastic. Close them off by adding the insulation to the kneewalls themselves. And, frame-in the (storage area) access doors and closet doors.
When the insulation and vapor barrier are done, we’ll start fixing the floor boards (much work there).
This is a HUGE occasion for us! We can finally see some real structure to the attic. We’re hoping to finish off the insulation process by the beginning of June. Volunteers to help finish it are always welcome! ;o) hehe
Off to work, now! (Check back soon for photos of the finished rafter areas!)
Cheers all!
